Ju-jutsu
Traditional Ju-jutsu is also taught at the Bansenshukai Dojo.
Today, there are many derivatives of this traditional Japanese art, including Judo, Aikido, and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
In ancient times one would live according to Butoku, or martial virtues. These virtues guide the warrior in correct living for the betterment of society. These martial techniques are for creating peace and protecting self and others.
The martial skills include:
Atemi waza: Striking methods
Kansetsu waza: Joint locking methods
Nage waza: Throwing methods
Shime waza: Choking methods
Osae komi waza: Pinning methods
This system comes from the traditional warrior class of Japan. We practice both the traditional methods (Koryu) and modern applications (Gendai). This allows us to understand the origin and core of the techniques, while applying them in a modern context.
At the Bansenshukai Dojo we practice both Ninpo and Ju-jutsu, striving to become a complete warrior.

"I felt so good after todays class and open mat time, that I wanted to write and express my deep-felt gratitude for helping inspire me back on the journey of learning.
Life can be a struggle with outer challenges competing for mastery of inner-self and time. I have fallen into that trap for many, many years now. Being something of an older person presents yet new challenges in motion and movement. It's been very easy to allow injuries, chronic pain, excessive time commitments and other professional responsibilities to become excuses and take control, thus side-tracking one's journey in the arts. Time and journey bandits won’t ever be vanquished or tamed, without solid resolve and wise guidance."
